Feeding rations and food consumption of Greenland halibut in the Barents Sea

Daily and yearly feeding rations have been calculated for Greenland halibut in the Barents Sea basing data on quantitative analysis of stomach contents for 2001-2010 and using information on gastric evacuation rate, fish body weight and water temperature. These estimations have allowed determining total food consumption as well as consumption of the most important commercial fish and invertebrates by whole population of Greenland halibut in the Barents Sea.

Composition and structure of the Barents Sea fish community at early ontogenesis stages according to data of Russian ichthyoplankton surveys (1959-1993)

Species composition and structure of the Barents Sea fish community at stages of eggs and larvae have been considered basing data from ichthyoplankton surveys for 1959-1993. Eggs and larvae of 55 fish species from 24 families were registered. They belonged to 7 zoogeographic groups, but mainly boreal and boreal European species were dominant species. Patterns of curves "dominance – diversity" of eggs and larvae corresponded to undisturbed communities with relatively high species diversity.
